Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is introducing new measures to assist brands in protecting their intellectual property (IP). The updates include enhancements to the Brand Rights Protection Manager tool and the introduction of the Intellectual Property Reporting Center.
The Brand Rights Protection Manager tool now features new AI-powered capabilities to provide broader protection for products. Users can upload reference images of their products, enabling Meta’s system to detect replicas. The tool offers streamlined discovery elements, such as saved searches and expanded search parameters, simplifying the detection process. Additionally, Meta has increased the reference image limit from 50 to 200, allowing for a wider range of variations to be cross-checked.
Meta is also expanding its Rights Manager platform, granting copyright holders greater control over their content. This includes the ability to block violating content and tag image ownership, further safeguarding intellectual property rights.
The newly introduced Intellectual Property Reporting Center serves as a centralized database for IP reports, facilitating improved tracking and monitoring of infringements.
To assist businesses in developing effective brand protection strategies, Meta has created a “Protecting Businesses” section on its Meta for Business website. This section provides informative notes and guides to help businesses navigate the process.
These updates strengthen Meta’s IP monitoring tools, providing vital safeguards against counterfeit products and counterfeiters on Facebook and Instagram. By combatting these issues, Meta aims to protect brand reputation and create a safer environment for users and businesses on its platforms.
